Foot and ankle mobility and the frontal plane projection angle in asymptomatic controls

چکیده
Introduction The frontal plane projection angle (FPPA) is a measure of the degree of dynamic knee valgus during functional tasks such as the single leg squat. An increased FPPA is associated with patellofemoral pain and is indicative of knee valgus during other tasks such as running. Therefore, it is important to determine factors that can contribute to FPPA in order to develop treatment strategies for people with (or at risk of) PFJ pain.

The relationship of foot and ankle mobility to the frontal plane projection angle in asymptomatic adults
BACKGROUND The frontal plane projection angle (FPPA) is frequently used as a measure of dynamic knee valgus during functional tasks, such as the single leg squat. Increased dynamic knee valgus is observed in people with knee pathologies including patellofemoral pain and anterior cruciate injury. As the foot is the primary interface with the support surface, foot and ankle mobility may affect th...

The ankle joint of lower extremity powered prostheses are generally designed to be capable of controlling a single degree of freedom (DOF) in the sagittal plane, allowing a focus on improved mobility in straight walking. However, the single DOF ankle movements are rare in normal lower limb actions such as walking on a straight path or turning when the ankle movements in both sagittal and fronta...
متن کاملEffect of Rocker Bar Ankle Foot Orthosis on Functional Mobility in Post-Stroke Hemiplegic Patients: Timed Up and Go and Gait Speed Assessments
Objectives: Ankle Foot Orthoses (AFOs) are widely utilized to improve walking ability in hemiplegic patients. The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of Rocker bar Ankle Foot Orthosis (RAFO) on functional mobility in post-stroke hemiplegic patients. Methods: Fifteen hemiplegic patients (men and women) who were at least 6-months poststroke and able to walk without an assis...

متن کاملThe Effects of Different Walking Inclinations on Knee Angle in the Frontal Plane of Patients with Varus Malalignment
Purpose: Given the high prevalence of varus malalignment of the knee and the consequences of walking on different surfaces on this malalignment, the aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of walking inclination on knee angle in the frontal plane of patients with varus malalignment. Methods: 18 male subjects with varus malalignment classified at grade 3 bowleg, within the a...
